Andy’s first recollection of music is listening to his parent’s 45s singles.
The first album he bought was by Carl Perkins so it’s no surprise he found himself singing for “The World's Greatest Rock ‘n’ Roll Band”.
Singing has been a big part of Andy’s life - since the age of 10 he has performed in plays and musicals and has spent many years working in theatre.
Andy’s first UK tour was “Happy As A Sand Bag” with Andy portraying the blue cheeky chappie comic, Max Miller.
He toured Europe, South Africa and the UK with Gerry and the Pacemakers in the concert version of “Ferry Cross the Mersey” (Flying Music).
Combining his love of theatre and Rock ‘n’ Roll he then toured with the show “Four Steps to Heaven”, which finished at the Piccadilly Theatre, West End. (A Bill Kenwright production).
Later, Andy became the Musical Director for “The Roy Orbison Story” and the national tour of “Rock ‘n’ Roll Heaven”. He also toured the UK in Pete Townsend’s rock opera “Tommy”. Andy’s last tour for Bill Kenwright was “This Is Elvis”, playing “Joe Esposito”.
Andy has a great love for traditional Pantomime. His many appearances include roles in “Jack and the Beanstalk”, “Aladdin”, “Robinson Crusoe”, “Dick Whittington, “Sleeping Beauty”, “The Wizard of Oz” and “Cinderella”.
He has worked with writer and director John Godber, and played the lead role “Stan”, in the musical “Big Trouble in the Little Bedroom” and then went on to be part of the original cast for his new play “Our House” at the Hull Truck Theatre.
During his theatre work Andy played in various bands performing original music with the Moon Biscuits and covers with Junction 21, The Yesterdays and Daytona with guitarist Rick Wilson (Danny Wilson’s brother). He was also a member of the Teddys, alongside Malcolm “The Duke” Allured, Bill “Buddy” Gask and Ray Martinez, all former members of Showaddywaddy.
With support from Malcolm Allured and following a call from Dave Bartram during 2011, Andy was offered to take over the lead vocals in Showaddywaddy, and joined the band in July 2011 to start rehearsals for the Greatest Hits Tour beginning in January 2012.
