Jacky McDonald
It is with enormous sadness that I write on behalf of Showaddywaddy members past and present to express our deep shock and sorrow at the tragic passing of superfan Jacky McDonald during her journey to see the band in Scarborough on Saturday 30th July 2022. Jacky was without a doubt one of the band’s most ardent and devoted fans for in excess of 40 years, during which she ceaselessly attended hundreds of performances throughout the length and breadth of the UK, her incredible loyalty never wavering at any time.
Her warm smile and lovable personality will be missed by those most dear to her including band members spanning the decades, who will long remember her quite astonishing devotion and unbreakable passion for the band’s live shows. Our thoughts go out to Jacky’s family and close friends at this hugely sad time.
With love and a heavy heart,
Dave Bartram, on behalf of Showaddywaddy
I first met Jacky at a Showaddywaddy gig in the late 1990s, in the days before the band's web-site and the social media explosion. Jacky loved Showaddywaddy who she had seen 100s of times since the 1980s, along with many other bands and artists who she travelled far and wide to see from her home in South Shields. She loved the live entertainment scene and had amassed a wide circle of friends through her love of music. I was proud to have known Jacky, down to earth, loveable and the most friendly person you could wish to meet.
