Notes:
  • 29 Mar 1985 - previous records showed the band appearing at St David’s Hall, Cardiff on this date, but it appears this gig did not go ahead as the band were booked at Blighty’s over the weekend, Fri/Sat night.
  • Apr 1985 - the band possibly played a few nights at the Night Out in Birmingham - exact dates not known.
  • 22 Apr 1985 - Orchard Theatre, Dartford - CANCELLED.
  • 27 Apr 1985 - SWW were the first band to play at the Clickimin Leisure Centre when it opened. The band returned to play a 25th anniversary celebratory gig in 2010.
  • 29 Apr 1985 - SWW due to play at Capitol Theatre, Aberdeen - the gig was reportedly cancelled due to Dave Bartram losing his voice, but that the Inverness gig was going ahead as planned. 1,000 tickets had been sold for the gig.
  • Jul 1985 - the band signed with agents Stuart Littlewood.
  • 13 Jul 1985 - this gig was on the same night as Live Aid - the venue was half full, and the band themselves wished they were watching Live Aid!
  • 20 Jul 1985 - Russ Field’s last gig with Showaddywaddy.
  • 24 Jul 1985 - booking at Embassy Theatre, Skegness cancelled.
  • 26 Jul to 11 Aug 1985 - two week tour of Ireland. Only a couple of gig dates known, documented above.
  • 24/25/26 Aug 1985 - exact date of gig at Roundhay Park not known, but it was over the Bank Holiday weekend. The gig featured Rick Willson on lead guitar (brother of Danny Willson who was to join Showaddywaddy in 1985) who was playing with the band for the first time. Ray Martinez was Russ Field’s replacement, but had other commitments for a few gigs, so Rick filled in at a few gigs until Ray could join permanently. Set list: Wipeout, Let There Be Drums, Pretty Little Angel Eyes, Sweet Little Rock ’n’ Roller, Twist & Shout, Sea Cruise, Little Ole Wine Drinker, Three Steps To Heaven, Dizzie Miss Lizzie, Rock ’n’ Roll Music, Rave On, Chain Gang, Out On The Town, Under The Moon Of Love, Jailhouse Rock, Romeo drum solo, Dancin’ Party, You Got What It Takes, Hey Rock And Roll.
  • Aug 1985 - Showaddywaddy were due to play at Britannia Park Festival (Heanor, Derbyshire) alongside Gary Glitter over the bank holiday weekend, but the event was cancelled due to the organisers not providing Amber Valley District Council the statutory 4 months notice for a licence to hold the event. (As can be seen, the band played Roundhay Park in Leeds over the weekend instead). Britannia Park was only open for a short time in 1985, and the site later became the American Adventure Theme Park.
  • Aug 1985 - New guitarist Ray Martinez joined the band, and his first confirmed gig was on 18 Aug at Margate, but may have played on 17 Aug at Southport (unless Rick Willson played at Southport - see note against 24-26 Aug).
  • 17 Sep 1985 - the gig at Northampton Derngate was originally due to take place on 02 Sep, and rearranged for 17 Sep.
  • Nov 1985 - the 5 night stint at Castles Ballroom saw the band supported by comedian Brodie Fry, and Del Hart & The Castles Band. SWW’s set list included: Three Steps To Heaven, Rave On, Jailhouse Rock, Chain Gang, Multiplication, Under The Moon Of Love, Dancin’ Party, A Little Bit Of Soap, Pretty Little Angel Eyes, Hey Rock And Roll.
