Scott McGowan - Guitar - 2026 to present
The band are delighted to welcome Scott McGowan as the band's new guitarist.
Scott hails from Glasgow, and after learning to play songs on the piano and the guitar at an early age, he discovered Elvis' 40 Greatest Hits album and from that moment on he was hooked on rock 'n roll music, which in turn led to him becoming a fan of the music of Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran, Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry. He spent all of his young life immersed in music and played whenever he could in school and at the local youth club and then in social clubs in and around Glasgow, singing Elvis songs in a squeaky voice. The musical highlight of his earlier years was actually seeing Showaddywaddy in concert at the legendary Apollo Theatre in Glasgow in 1978, when he was just twelve years old and a big fan of the band. He remembers it being brilliant, colourful, exciting and unbelievably loud!
Since his days in Glasgow, Scott has lived in London, Aberdeen and Devon, where he has made and continues to make a living playing in loads of different cover bands and original bands, playing all kinds of venues including pubs, clubs, cafe bars, theatres and music festivals.
In addition to being a gigging musician, Scott teaches guitar both privately and in schools, and has done so for over thirty years.
In recent times, Scott was a full-time member of Les McKeown's Bay City Rollers for twelve years, performing at least a hundred shows a year with Les all over the world, with regular tours in Ireland, Japan, Canada and Australia, as well as performing in all the popular theatres throughout the UK.
His hobbies include playing the guitar, playing the guitar and playing the guitar, in no particular order.
Scott is thrilled and excited to be given the opportunity to play in Showaddywaddy and after wishing as a young boy that he could be in a band like that one day, the dream seems to have come true!
Scott played his first gig with SWW in Malvern on 29th May 2026.
